IB Reflections

Start of the Year

At the start of each year I review the Learner Profiles with my new class, and we build our class agreement from this. During the time I have taught in Nikau Block (Y4), I have presented these in the form of a Nikau Tree on our wall. Here are some photos:
One of the first activities we do is decorate a segment of bark with each student's name. This builds the tree trunk. This shows how it takes all of us working together to make a strong team. After bus stopping and discussing the Learner Profiles, the students work in small groups to compose a Looks Like, Sounds Like and Feels Like sentence for their assigned profile. These are then published into the leaves of the tree.
